Dante’s Inferno version for PC

Dante’s Inferno is an adventure video game with more action developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. It was also released on the PlayStation Portable and was developed by the renown Artificial Mind and Movement. The 3rd person hack-and-slash game was inspired by “Inferno,” part one of  Dante Alighieri’s Medieval Italian classic poem, “The Divine Comedy.”

The game is presently accessible for Microsoft Windows on GamesKnit.

Although the playable demo was released for PlayStation 3 on December 10, 2009, and on Xbox 360 about 14 days later being December 24, 2009, the game was officially released across Europe on February 5, 2010. Dante’s Inferno features a plot like the poem, it includes the damned found in the different circles of hell and several other monsters with Dante this time as a Knight Crusader who travels into the depths of hell in an attempt to rescue his lover.

The player controls Dante, which is the game’s protagonist, taking him through this journey through the allegorical nine circles with the sole purpose of revenge and reclaiming the soul of his beloved Beatrice from the hands of Lucifer. The game features nonstop action rendered at 60 frames-per-second, upgradable weapons, attack combos, signature, mana-fueled spells and the choice of either punishing or absolving the souls of defeated enemies.

With over 60 weapons, magical powers, combo modifications, and hugely destructive, ridable mounts, the beautiful, fast-paced action and intense combat gaming experience gives its players an exciting battling experience right in the horrors of hell.

In the game, Dante’s primary weapon is the Death’s scythe, used in a series of combination attacks and finishing moves and his secondary weapon is the Holy Cross that fires some kind of energy as a projectile attack and as the player progresses, more abilities are unlocked.

Dante’s delve into the bowels of hell is claimed to be a thrilling adventure for its players, from the gothic art style and quest to the disfigured demons and blood-splattering combat in the underworld, some players reported it was worth the experience. But while the PlayStation 3 version received “generally favorable reviews”, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable versions received more “average” reviews.

Generally, most critics tailored their bad review to the fact that the game resembled the Sony’s famous God of War series, and although this was more of where the negative energy was rising from, critics also mentioned a few other flaws. Some stated that the game was a bit too monotonous and repetitive in the latter part of the game.

Most critics also prided the game in terms of art and graphics since the game was made at the far end of 2009. Stating the game was visually impressive, especially the cut scenes, with plenty of life-like detail to be seen. Others credited the level at which the creators made the emotions and expressions on the faces of the characters quite visible.
